Over the course of the next week, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will celebrate its 225th birthday and its role as the birthplace of public higher education in America — and you can play a virtual part in the commemoration.

The annual University Day ceremony is scheduled to be held in Memorial Hall on Friday at 10 a.m. But beginning on Monday, a set of four Facebook frames will be available for Tar Heels near and far to add to their profile pictures. Each of the four frames features UNC-Chapel Hill’s “225” imagery and will add a splash of Carolina color to your profile picture. Later in the week, three celebratory Snapchat filters will be available at several locations across campus. And all throughout the week, social media users can utilize the #UNC225 hashtag to send “happy birthday” messages to Carolina, share what makes them proud to be a Tar Heel or see stories that detail UNC-Chapel Hill’s rich history and its impact on the state, nation and world.

To access the Facebook frames, simply go to your Facebook profile on your computer or phone. On mobile, tap on your profile picture, tap “Add Frame” and then search “UNC-Chapel Hill.” You’ll see the four options labeled “UNC-Chapel Hill is 225.” On your computer, hover over your profile picture, click “Update” and then click “Add Frame.” From there, search “UNC-Chapel Hill” and you’ll see the four options labeled “UNC-Chapel Hill is 225.”
